Rod Temperton is best known as the composer of Michael Jackson’s 'Thriller' - the title track of the most successful album of all time, selling over 100 million copies. Rod’s incredible career began writing hits for Heatwave and since then he has been responsible for classic after classic, working with Quincy Jones, Herbie Hancock, Aretha Franklin, Donna Summer, George Benson, James Ingram, Anita Baker, Karen Carpenter and many others.
Equally successful writing for film, Rod was honoured with two Oscar nominations for his work on Steven Spielberg's 'The Colour Purple', along with a Golden Globe nomination and Ivor Novello award for his song 'Sweet Freedom' from the motion picture 'Running Scared'. For television Rod also composed the long running theme for America's most famous talk show 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' . In 1993 Rod was presented with a second Ivor Novello for 'Special International Achievement'.
Rod Temperton songs have featured in many films and TV shows including 'The Eyes of Laura Mars', 'Escape to Athena', 'Summer of Sam', 'Charlie Wilson's War' and more recently '13 Going on 30', 'The Break Up', 'Glee' and 'Scared Shrekless - where the Shrek characters take on Rod's most famous work 'Thriller'.
