Born in the UK and raised in Chicago, this 22 year old singer is currently based in deep south London. His musical tastes lie amongst blues, gospel, swamp rock and big band, and his favourite album is Duane Allman – An Anthology (Capricorn).
Jamie N Commons’ debut record ‘The Baron EP’ was recorded to tape at Eastcote Studios London, produced by Eliot James and Jamie himself. The record captures the sound of his heart-stopping vocal and his heavily drilled 5 piece band.
This first offering takes sonic reference from a wide range of Jamie’s influences; the sparse, bare desolation of the Rick Rubin produced Johnny Cash “American Series”, the ambient sounds and arrangements of Talk Talk’s “Spirit of Eden”, and the fire and brimstone stomp of later period Tom Waits. The E.P. attempts to capture the perfect imperfection of the performances and to convey the haunting, violent and arresting sound this young man is creating. His second single ‘Devil In Me’ is released through Luv Luv Luv Records in March 2012.
